Dankzij stichting Friends for Life kan een aantal Keniaanse kinderen onderwijs volgen. Doris Kuva Gereza is een van hen. Zij deelt haar verhaal over haar achtergrond en de verandering in haar leven graag met ons.
“I am Doris Kuva Gereza and I am a student at the Kenya Medical Training College Msambweni campus following a Diploma course in Community Health Nursing. I am now a third year student and I am about to graduate.
I come from a single parent family living with my mother and siblings. My father died when Iwas in the first year of high school. My mother does small businesses to cater for our daily bread. We also have a small farm at which we do subsistence farming. I received a small bursary from the government so that i could finish my high school period. My good performance assured me a place in the college I am in now. However, after my first semester I would not have known what to do in order to continue as there was nobody to support me any further. Not long after, our deputy principal brought us scholarship forms from Friends for Life Foundation. After filling in the form I was called for interview and I was very happy to hear that I had passed the intake interview and received a scholarship.
Since then, my life has changed and my academic performance has greatly improved. I never had any issues anymore with paying fees and thus providing me with a conducive studying mind. I have been able to pass all my exams all along. I really appreciate your continued support and care. I have made a promise to prosper in my studies in order to be able to help other needy students like me to pursue their dreams.”
